Transcription: Treasure 33, Royal Llama of the Inca. Each morning on an island in Lake Titicaca, a llama was sacrificed at the Temple of the Sun by the Sapa Inca, ruler of the Inca Empire. One white llama, however, was spared by the Sapa Inca and kept as a kind of royal mascot, which we think this 500-year-old figurine represents. Shaped of several pieces of sheet silver carefully soldered together, the llama is beautifully detailed. Look at the flair of its nostrils and the sculpted toenails.
